New Technology: Dynamic Resizing of Images

This new technology could be huge for producing truely dynamic pages:

Cheat Sheets Galore!

We all love cheat sheets as they're invaluable as a development resource.

Well, I stumbled across a site that had a bunch of them for topics from SQL Server to CSS. Check it out:

Web Trend Map 2007 Version 2.0

While reading ValleyWag, I found a post to a VERY cool Web 2.0 map that shows how most of the big players in the space interconnect with each other. Its based on a Tokyo subway map layout and comes in different formats and sizes.

You can see Adobe's got a nice lot on the map.

Check it out here:

SunRocket VOIP Service is Dead!!

I've been using SunRocket VOIP service for almost 2 years now with nary a hiccup. Well today, I found out that the service is DEAD! And the SOBs didn't even bother to tell me!!!! The basically shutdown the service without letting any of their subscribers know and I had to find out via the Consumerist.

Thats just a really crappy thing to do. On top of that, you can't call customer service since you now get a cheery message telling you that they no longer are taking sales or support calls. Just peachy.

BREAKING NEWS: The Great Internet Crash of '07

Breaking News: All Online Data Lost After Internet Crash

Thanking our Veterans and Troops and Those that made the Ultimate Sacrifice

Today is Memorial Day. While many people will solely be thinking of this day as a paid day off, let us not forget that its actually a day to commemorate the men and woman who sacrificed their lives in an effort to ensure our country's freedoms.

Irregardless of the political reasons behind engaging our troops in certain conflicts, I am proud of our servicemen for all of their efforts and pray for those that have been injured or sacrificed their lives to protect us. I also pray for the families of these servicemen and wish them all of the strength in the world.

Think before you post on the Net

Its beyond comprehension how people seem to completely lose their minds when doing stuff on the Internet. Guys, seriously, YOU NEED TO THINK BEFORE POSTING ON THE INTERNET.

Mashable is running a story on a student that was denied her teaching degree the day before graduation because of a picture that she posted on her MySpace profile:

Woman Sues University Over MySpace Controversy

While I think the university's reasons are utter BS, people need to start becoming more responsible with their lives. Seriously, if you plan on succeeding in your career, its *NOT* okay to post pics of your crazy and wild frat days with beer kegs in the background and some naked person hanging on to you. It *WILL* be view as a poor reflection on you and employers will use that to determine if you're a responsible person or not. Whether its right to use that against you is irrelevant. Its a fact of life. I wouldn't go into a job interview or tell a potential client about a wild party I had the night before so why would I even consider posting a picture of that??!!?

In the case of this young lady, the picture, IMO, doesn't encourage underage drinking at all and obviously some prude at this university has their hat on too tight but it goes to show how someone's skewed perception of morality can adversely effect your life.

Seriously people, get your act together.

All I can say is WOW! MS+Yahoo! = $50B

As Dan Switzer said “It would save Microsoft a lot of money they're throwing into all their Live.com stuff”:

MASSIVE: Microsoft May Acquire Yahoo for $50 Billion

Twitter Can Bite You on the Butt

Ever posted something online or sent off an email and then realized you had ROYALLY messed up?? Well thanks to the new push for openness, transparency and social involvement, we now have a new service to catch our butts with; Twitter.

ValleyWag has an interesting tale of how a very high ranking executive at PR firm Edelman Public Relations basically made a MAJOR faux paus by posting a quick blurb about Edelman client PC Magazine on Twitter. Well, I think you can guess that it got back to the head honchos at PC Magazine who were none too happy. You see their reaction here:

http://www.strumpette.com/archives/364-EXCLUSIVE-PC-Magazine-Considers-Edelman-Boycott.html

This is such a great example of why the everyone needs to take a step back and really re-evaluate what you say on the web. There are so many services nowadays that make it so easy to post about yourself and if you're not careful, you may just say something that will come back to haunt you.

While many dotcoms like Twitter would love nothing more than for you to share your innermost thoughts and feelings, you really need to think about the consequences involved by posting up your personal affairs on a medium that actively logs EVERYTHING you post. Once you press submit, its on the Net for everyone to see and its damn near impossible to get rid of anything you post nowadays.

Seriously, think before you post. Nobody wants to know about some strange litterbox fetish you may had or the fact that you picked up extra absorbent adult diapers before going home. Some things need to stay private and don't let the Web teach you otherwise.
